Beatty, NEVADA… A small town Located HWY 95 and Sate Route 374, this is a small town great for staying in while visiting Death Valley National Park. Wild Burros roam the town ( you are most likely to see them at sunrise).

EL Portal Motel, Beatty Nevada
If you are thirsty $2.50 shot specials at the At the Happy Burro Chilli & Beer. They have Both Red & White wine, two thumbs up.
Any of the sites in Death Valley are about 45 minutes away ( the sand dunes) As the park is massive and I suggest a three day visit to see the noted sights.
The Death Valley visitor center is large and the rangers are helpful and provide maps as well as what you would be best to see in the park.
I love coming in winter, although it gets chilly at night, but a comfortable temp. 59 degrees high, 40 ish low.
