A dressy affair, clean simple black and white backdrops in the studio, focusing just on the couple. Complete with glamour wind, jumps, laughter, and of course, some harsh flash ( my fave). Out of the engagement photo nature , and into some artificial light and air conditioning.
The engagement photo session of Julie and Howard in the Studio. During our initial meeting, I found out that this couple got engaged on New Years Eve. Visions of a confetti storm and the couple in formal attire danced in my head, and here are the images that came about. The three above images shot with the Hassleblad on Kodak film
So excited for the color of forest park in Portland Oregon and to create some romantic portraits in nature, and of course, my favorite images are the ones shot in the hotel room with expired film and a point and shoot camera. Thank you Cayla and Brady for leaving room for the unexpected.

An adventurous photoshoot- classic portraits in the studio, then an adventure in the rain. #radcouple When I First Contacted Peyton and asked if she had rainboots- she said yes, and she was up for an adventure in the rain! Here are 7 reasons why you should not cancel your engagement session if it rains: You get to wear your rain boots with a formal number, and it totally works. You can also wear some heels in the studio 🙂 2. You […]
Tide Park located in Solana Beach is a very special place for Couple Dana, & Peyton. On his birthday he recommended a walk on their favorite beach before a dinner, on their favorite beach. Disguised in a black floppy hat, beach towel, blue beach chair, and subway sandwich bag covering my camera. hid in plain site ( I have photographed Peyton’s family and was afraid she might recognize me), next to the sand castle in order to get her reaction. During the wedding consultation, I found out these two professional musicians met in college, in music class, so photographing them in the studio with their instruments it was for the engagement session! Shot using the Hasselblad with both cinestill color and Ilford black and white film. I like to find out about my couples- how they met, what they enjoy in life, to create something that is unique to them.

After meeting at an 80’s party, he was in a Don Johnson Miami Vice shirt, she, a mini skirt and some neon, 80’s theme it was for the engagement session! Plastic Fantastic: Shooting some cinestill film with a Holga, a plastic camera, was a must, since […]
Erica and Matt are the proud pet parents of Biscuit. They are getting married this coming October, and can’t have Biscuit at the wedding, so we celebrated her in the engagement session. It’s been plastic fantastic camera theme with the holga at the studio lately. The above proof sheet are the film images, with on camera flash and the white seamless backdrop paper.
They say, “When you meet the love of your life, time stands still.” – from the movie Big Fish. Caleb thought this way when he saw Ashley for the first time, he said your like popcorn- or something to that effect- so popcorn theme it was for the engagement session. With 5 bags of popcorn, the fashion fan, and an assistant on a Iadder, we created this image. I love my couples- willing to be different and play in photos. […]
Jannkia fell in love with 2 wedding dresses, and decided rather than choose between the two, she would get both and wear one for the engagement session! This fit perfectly for a formal photo shoot in the studio. For Jannika and Jason we created a classic and timeless look for their engagement session and included their fur babies who were quite dapper in their tuxes. Jason has quite a sense of humor, so for the second look, he was allowed […]
Always remember that love and marriage is a commitment through life, so you have to hold on tight! Your spouse always deserves the best of you, not the leftovers at the end of the day. Never take each other for granted. You chose each other for life, so always show each other why you did.
